Biography
After spending many years as an electrician in a factory environment, Dianne Scott registered to study classical art at the Michael John Angel Academy and has since realized her life long desire to become a portrait artist.
“As a child, I was happiest with crayons and paper even in my crib. Although I have graduated to charcoal and paint brushes, the feeling of happiness is the same. I treasure each moment that I’m working on a portrait,” says Dianne, her eyes sparkling. “I was raised in a small town in Northwestern Ontario where becoming a professional artist simply wasn’t an option. My desire to become an artist was buried while I pursued a trade in Toronto. It wasn’t until I turned 40 that I actually said that I wanted to be a portrait artist out loud.”
“When I get a commission, it is exciting for me to spend time with the photograph getting acquainted with its subject. I love to hear about the person because it helps me to express their personality. I learn a great deal about each person as I make my journey through the work. Each piece requires deep concentration.”
Dianne has an ever-increasing and appreciative audience and receives several commissions each year. She continues her studies at the world famous Michael John Angel Academy.
